The Design
The ALASQ Muro is an outdoor drinking water station that redefines public access to tap water. Combining style, accessibility, and safety, this elegant wall-mounted dispenser transforms drinking tap water into an attractive and convenient experience. Designed with hygiene, aesthetics, and ease of use at its core, the ALASQ Muro pays special attention to the needs of schoolchildren. Its rounded shapes make it completely child-friendly, while its robust construction is built to withstand intensive daily use. At the same time, students, employees, and passers-by can all benefit from the innovative system.
Unlike conventional public drinking fountains, the ALASQ Muro is self-cleaning and self-maintaining. Combined with its protected dispensing nozzle and intuitive touch-free operation, this ensures the highest standards of hygiene. The unit is wall-mounted, making it easily accessible for children as well as wheelchair users. It can also be fully customised, allowing schools to decorate the dispenser with their own artwork or even organise a design competition for students. As the school year extends into the colder months, the ALASQ Muro is equipped with an automatic frost protection system, ensuring fresh drinking water remains available on the playground even on the coldest days.
Research shows that around 40% of schools do not adequately maintain their drinking fountains, while approximately half of all students refill their bottles in school restrooms. AQUALEX believes that safe, hygienic drinking water should always be available on school premises. Sustainability is one of AQUALEX's core values, which is why the company has built a close partnership with the social enterprise WAAK. Through this collaboration, AQUALEX has brought its production back to Deerlijk, Belgium. Keeping manufacturing local gives the company greater control over its production process, enables closer quality monitoring, and reduces its environmental footprint.
The WAAK team plays an essential role in the partnership, carrying out a wide range of tasks—from the precise assembly of the ALASQ range to the careful preparation of customer orders. This sustainable and circular collaboration allows both organisations to deliver premium-quality products while contributing to a cleaner, more sustainable future.
