Sint-Rembert lets water speak with AQUALEX Longo
At the middle school of the Sint-Rembert school group, life and activity buzz every day. As a large school campus, a true “small city within the city,” the school places great importance on an environment where students and staff can learn, work, and live together. Sustainability plays a central role in this. As an educational institution, Sint-Rembert feels the responsibility to make sustainability visible and tangible in everything they do – from infrastructure and purchases to waste management and cleaning.

A trusted partnership that evolves
The school has been collaborating with AQUALEX for many years. Choosing a new drinking water solution was therefore obvious. “We have always been satisfied with the service, the quality of the equipment, and the smooth communication,” says Stijn Devos, Infrastructure Manager.
Two AQUALEX Longo units were installed in the cafeteria, a device that builds on the ALASQ Muro but was specifically developed to meet the needs of a busy indoor school environment. The result is a modern, robust, and highly practical drinking water dispenser that perfectly fits Sint-Rembert’s vision of sustainability and quality.
A device with its own character
The school even played an active role in the Longo’s design. Employee Elke Van Nieuwenhuyse from vertel.ke designed the visual finish on the units: “I wanted to show the connection between the device and the school. This illustration was created. It playfully shows that drinking water is important for a sharp mind. Water gives energy and stimulates creativity. It bubbles, fizzes, and puts students in motion physically and mentally, exactly what they need behind the school desks. By continuing the illustration across both units, they form a whole. Individually, they are great, but together they gain extra meaning.”
This personal design gives the devices a unique appearance that immediately stands out. It makes the Longo not only a functional device but also a visual element that fits perfectly within the school’s identity.
Popular use during breaks
The two Longos were given a prominent place in the Link, the multipurpose space on the ground floor of the renovated chapel, where they are now intensively used. Especially during breaks, they are a fixed stop for students who want to quickly refill their reusable bottles. The units are user-friendly and accessible, contributing to promoting healthy drinking habits and reducing plastic waste.
The popularity of the devices shows that the approach works: drinking water becomes more attractive and easier.
